Norman Bruce Harvey (1931-1992) was a painter of New Zealand’s native vegetation and wildlife. His foray into the art world began at Otago Museum where he was employed to paint the inside of display cases and where he met the bird artist Lily Daff.

A large portfolio of his botanical paintings was published in 1969, followed closely by his bird paintings a year later. Harvey worked in close association with leading New Zealand ornithologists, including Geoff Moon and E.G. Turbott, to ensure scientific authenticity in his work.
