Dedicated to Isabel Reed, who died in 1939, this bumper volume contains 129 Bible stories retold for contemporary children, a selection of specially written children’s prayers and hymns, in addition to maps, Bible games and puzzles. This book was issued by the Alfred and Isabel and Marian Reed Trust, set up to publish books which attractively present the Christian faith, with profits returning to the Trust Fund.

Published during World War II, The Maybelle series of Bible story books was a series of Bible stories intended especially for New Zealand children and retold by Alfred, his sister Marian, and his nephew Clif Reed.
