This small collection of Christmas greetings cards was sent by Richard John Seddon to Margaret McIntosh (b.1883) between the years 1899 and 1906.
Richard John Seddon (1845-1906) was the British-born Premier of New Zealand from 1893 until his death in office in 1906. The cards (apart from 1901-02) are small booklets containing photographs of New Zealand, usually including several of Seddon himself.
McIntosh was born in Lawrence and became a school teacher at Clyde. She wrote to Seddon and was put on his mailing list for Christmas cards. Later, she married a farmer and lived in the Clinton area, before moving to Anderson’s Bay, Dunedin.
