Teacher, historian, biographer, and environmentalist Kene Hine Te Uira Martin (Ngā Puhi, 1938) was born in Waiomio, Northland. Her lifelong career and as a teacher and educator began after she graduated from Ardmore Teachers’ College. She has written poetry, waiata, short stories, and several books for children including those on this exhibition.
