Prospectus for: The letters and journals of Samuel Marsden, 1765-1838 (1932)
From his earliest days as a supplier of religious texts, A.H. Reed’s accustomed method of promotion was by mail order. Although the book trade obviously took on great importance once he expanded into secular publishing, his faith in promotion by mail never waned. Prospectuses and circulars were mailed out in their thousands to libraries, schools, students, scholars, the clergy, and people on the firm’s extensive mailing list.
