The Fish of Maui: Te Ika a Maaui; Written and Illustrated by Peter Gossage; Translated to Maori by Merimeri Penfold. Auckland: Lansdowne Press, 1981.
The 1980s heralded a prolific period of colourfully illustrated publications for children. Peter Gossage retold and illustrated many myths and legends. Here we show two books from a series of Māui stories, retold and illustrated by Gossage, and translated into Māori by Merimeri Penfold. The stories are presented with the English and Māori version on the same page.
