Love stories have long been popular with publishers, and Maori myths and legends have captured the imagination of a number of writers in this regard. The three items in this case are more particularly focused on the love story. Murdoch Riley and Haami Bradford both present brief retellings of popular love stories from Māori tradition. Pei Te Hurinui relates the saga of Tūrongo, Whatihua, Ruaputahanga and Mahinārangi.
